Emma has always had an interest in the world in which we live in, from both a physical and a human point of view, which in turn led her to applying to study Earth Science at University. She also has a love for travelling and experiencing new cultures, so jumped at the chance to be able to take part in the Uganda expedition.

Having spent 5 weeks travelling Europe in the summer between first and second year, Emma has had plenty of experience living out with her comfort zone, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. She has also, since a young age, spent many family holidays exploring different countries and their landscapes.

Emma has the role of media, which will involve keeping track of what the team are doing, before and during the expedition through photographs and videos. At the end of this adventure, she will create a short video pulling all the experiences and finds together to present back and allow everyone to see how the team prepared, and what they go up to while in Uganda.

Emma is looking forward to the challenge of the new and exciting experience which is coming her way. She hopes to put her current Earth Science knowledge to the test and to improve her fieldwork and mapping skills whilst in an active geological setting and a completely different culture to her own. As well as working on skills which will contribute to the future of her degree, she hopes to make new friends and have fun too!
