Christopher is in the final year of his BSc Earth Science (Hons) degree. Originally, studying both Music, Geography and Earth Science in Year 1, it quickly became clear that Earth Science was the perfect route to follow. With a keen interest in applied geology and fieldwork the Ugandan expedition grabbed his attention.

Although this is his first time leading an expedition, he has previous fieldwork experience across Scotland, most recently completing 3 weeks of independent mapping of the Moine Thrust at Strathcanaird, near Ullapool.

He has previous experience leading and teaching with both sports and music groups and the appropriate transferable skills. He has received the Diana Award for volunteering and has worked with the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) who encourage those from less affluent backgrounds to aim for university after secondary education.

His role as leader began in April 2017 after initial discussions with Daniel regarding the trip and potential areas of research in the Albertine Rift region. After it was determined that the trip was possible, they began to work together to form a reliable team.

The leader role will involve managing this team to ensure that everyone can gain more fieldwork experience, explore new cultures, gain knowledge of research practices, but mostly importantly that the expedition is safe, fun and successful for all involved.

He is excited to be leading this expedition and hopes that the team can work together to meet out fundraising targets and research goals.
