Adam is incredibly excited at the opportunity to research such an active area of the African continent. He has had an active interest in geology from an early due to his climbing pursuits. Due to this being his first real experience of fieldwork, he hopes to glean some form of inspiration from this unique trip for later projects and expeditions.

Adam has the role of ensuring that the team is safe at all times and hopes that his experience in mountaineering and alpine expeditions aids this. Especially given that some of the fieldwork will be occurring at high altitude he is hoping that his experience in sticky situations will ensure that no one gets in one themselves!

He has experience in glacier walking and rock climbing as well as navigation and will take this into account when preparing the risk assessment.

In particular he hopes to make lifelong connections to the university as well as vastly improving fieldwork and mapping skills for a head start into later years; gaining an appreciation for the unique setting and specifically expanding knowledge of fault zones.
